My cats are both female, both relatively the same age (2 weeks) apart. I don’t think that should make a difference but anyways, my cats tend to poo on the carpet or somewhere on the floor and not in the litter box. The cats know where the litter box is but they decided not to use it. How do i get them to use the litter box the whole time and stop them from pooping on the floor?

I really want to adopt a cat. I’ve wanted one ever since I was a little girl. My mom wants one too, but she doesn’t know how we could take care of it. I would pay for most of the expenses. Would it be better to foster a couple of cats to see if I was able to take care of it? Should I get a cat or kitten? I am in middle school, so I know how to do stuff. I am not a stupid little kid.

I know many people with cats and have delivered healthy babies. So many people are giving me advice like “get rid of the cats” or “dont change the cat box”. I need in need to hear from people that have been in the same situation as me and what actions they took to prevent the birth defects, etc. Of course I am deploying my common sense and avoiding the cat box, but what really are my risks of contracting something from them? My OB doesnt seem to think it is a major concern, but everyone else in my family and around me are freaking out! I would also like to get some advice on how to handle the cats after the baby is born. I understand they will be curious.
