doctoragl asked:

is catnip safe for cats with kidney problems?
my 12 year old cat has been on a special prescription diet for renal problems for a couple of years (hill’s k/d). Thankfully he has no symptoms and seems healthy in spite of his compromised kidneys. Anyway.. like most cats, he loves catnip. Does anyone know if cats with kidney disease have problems processing catnip/ excreting it? Is it ok to keep giving it to him? thanks!

PostHeaderIcon Cat Litter Box

I have to be one of the fussiest people when it comes to keeping a clean home. This character trait is complicated by the simple fact that I am unbearably lazy, too. Keeping up with multiple felines used to be a real struggle for me but I finally found a solution that addresses my lazy side and my fussy side in a cat litter box.

PostHeaderIcon Cat Baskets

Most people love to get houses and special beds for their dogs, but they often forget that cats need some of the same things to be comfortable in the home. Though there really are no cat houses to keep cats outdoors, there are plenty of things you can buy for them in your home that they will love, and even though you won’t think so, they will appreciate and use them once they realize they can use these things for play or warmth. One thing that owners should always have are cat baskets so that their cats have a warm place to lie down.

PostHeaderIcon Cats Behaviour

Most people who have pets choose to have a cat or a dog. You can almost tell someone’s personality by the pet that they own. Both make great pets, but there are huge differences in owning each of them. One major difference is that while you can usually tell what a dog is thinking and why they are doing something, many cat behaviours tend to make no sense. Though this can be confusing, that is one of the great things about owning a cat. They remain much of a mystery, and trying to figure out why they are doing what they are doing can be a lot of fun.

PostHeaderIcon Cat Grooming

There are many basics that most people know come along with owning a cat. There is the litter box to attend to, and a steady supply of fresh water and food that all pets need. However, depending on the type of cat you have, you may also have to think about cat grooming. Most think of cats as pretty clean animals that take care of their own bathing needs, but there are some breeds that might need a little help in that area. Those breeds that have longer hair will have to have grooming services for cats once in while.

PostHeaderIcon How can you treat cats’ litter box problems?

cats problems
nbsandiego asked:

I have two cats. One of them is really good about the litter box, but the other one is very haphazard. She drops her mess on the rim of the box so half goes in and half goes out, or she leaves her mess on the carpet, or she pees on magazines. Sometimes she buries her mess and sometimes she just leaves it lying out. Her box is clean, and we’ve tried getting two boxes so each cat can have its own territory, but the problem isn’t abating. This cat is a feline leukemia carrier, so we can’t give her away or send her to a shelter, because she would be put down. Any suggestions would be welcome.

The cats want to use the kids’ box garden for a litter box. Is there a way to keep the cats out besides putting sticks in the soil? We don’t have a place to put the box where the cats can’t get to it.
