Mike F asked:

I am starting some tomatoes and basil inside and I couldn’t figure what was eating the tips of them. I have since discovered that one of my cats is biting at them. Any suggestions of a natural way I can repeal the cats from doing this?

You can buy a bitter apple spray that will deter the cats but not harm the plants. Otherwise, I suggest some kind of clear cover to keep the cats out.

I have heard that cats don’t like the smell of citrus so maybe if you spray something that smells like oranges….?

I always struggled with keeping cats out of my outdoor beds and pots. I usually kept sticks poked down into the dirt to keep them out. Inside is a different story. I would recommend either putting the plants in a room where the cats can’t go or spraying the plants with red pepper mixed with water. It won’t hurt the plants, but the cats will hate it.
