  • Barbie M:

it is very possible that with this new person inside you that she is jealous just because most animals can sense things like that.

If you are pregnant, please do not touch the litter!!!!!!!!!!! It is a proven fact that there are many things in cat litter that can lead to birth defects! Other than taht, I dont know of any reason why other than kitty is either marking, or doesnt like the smell or feel of the litter.

I dont think so. Your pregnant and your cat can sense that but I think it has nothing to do with the fact that ur pregnant. Good luck!!!

  • Mr Hairball:

Yes. Pets DO exhibit jealous behavior. It is quite possible that your kitty knows what is up.

    Two things I suggest.
1-Get a 2nd litter box. I know that if there are two kittys, vets recommend 3 litter boxes. So, possibly this can help.
2- Call your vet. If you don’t have one, try the yellow pages. Ask them. They usually have worthwhile info.

Oh, and lastly, maybe give your kitty a bit more attention. That will do you both well.

And a reminder that there really is such thing as cat scratch fever. Reason: that ole litter box has so many germs, we cannot count them. So with that in mind, best to steer clear of that germ breeding ground while you are pregnant.

if u r pregnant you do not need to be around cat litter boxes and cat poop

I have 3 cats and have always had cats and when i got pregnant I was told that by no means should I be touching cat litter except to buy it for your husband to clean the box,he’ll get over it it’s only 9 months!

  • Neesie:

Cats don’t have the thinking capacity to be “jealous,” though they will sense if something in their environment is different and can react to the stress.
Any change in litterbox behavior needs a trip to the vet to check for a possible medical problem, like a urinary tract infection. If there’s nothing wrong with her health, the vet can talk to you about how to deal with a behavioral issue.
